The best thing about this place is that, their claypot rice are charcoal burnt, which give you a traditional taste. Most of the claypot in other place are using gas which doesn't taste as good as charcoal burn. There had been people saying that the standard dropped, did not taste as good as before. I decided to come back to this place after a few months. Located outside Atria and beside Domino's Pizza.
You get a table, look at the laminated A4 paper(menu) and go to the lady(in the picture) and order what you want. Basically, this place sells only claypot chicken rice. But the deciding part is whether you want to add Chinese sausages/egg/salted fish/more chicken. You can also order steamed soup and greens.
We ordered the greens, Yau Mak with oyster sauce. Everything was okay except that the oyster sauce tasted real bad. I'm wondering is that vegetarian oyster sauce.
Then, came the steamed soup. Watercrest soup(front), Pig stomach pepper soup(back). The watercrest and pork stomach was soft, just the way i like it. The downside is, both soup are poured with generous amount of MSG.
Lastly, the one that we waited for so long. The best thing comes last right? But it was a bad experience for us. Our claypot rice came last because we ordered the small one. Even the table that sat beside us came faster than us. I asked the lady and she told me that they will be serving the large one first. Isn't it suppose to be first come first serve basis? We waited for more than 30 minutes! The claypot chicken rice was not as good as before, the rice was too dry that day. Other than that, others was okay especially the chicken.
Daily 12pm to 2.30pm, 5pm to 9.30pm,
